Debra Werschek, a resident of Philadelphia, passed away October 12, 2025, at the age of 65. She is proceeded in death by her father Harry Werschek, step mother Thomasona “Tommie” Werschek; her step father Edward Novotny. She is survived by her son Michael (Nicole) Werschek, grandson Carter, her mother Diana Novotny (Newman) her sisters Joanne (René) Braeckman, Louann, Lisa (Dan) Jalosinski, as well many nieces and nephews.
She attended St. Williams before moving starting at Cardinal Dougherty eventually she transferred and graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia in 1978. After graduating from Northeast High school she attended Community College of Philadelphia before LaSalle University. Debra decided to further her education and received her master’s degree from Holy Family University.
Debra’s family and friends described her as a kindhearted, supportive, straight forward woman. Debra had a passion for genealogy; helping others learn about their family history. She will be deeply missed by all of those who loved her.
A service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 @ 10 am at St. Anselm Church located at 12670 Dunks Ferry Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary
