Thomas J. Schwartz, Sr. of Middleton, Massachusetts, formerly of the Mayfair and Juniata sections of Philadelphia, PA, passed peacefully on January 5, 2025 at age 90. Thomas was the beloved husband of the late Joanne (nee Delaney) for 61 years and the loving father of Mary Zarrella, M.D. (James) of Danvers, MA, Joanne, Ph.D. of Middleton, MA, and the late Thomas J. Jr. (Heather). He was the brother of the late Esther Robinette (the late James), Barbara Mackin (the late John, Jr.), Mary Kahlert (Kenneth), and brother-in-law of Sr. Maria Paula Delaney, IHM. Thomas will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Ices (Joshua), Brandon, and Connor Schwartz, Julianne Zarrella, and his many nieces and nephews. Thomas was a proud member of Northeast Catholic High School Class of 1953 and Holy Innocents School Class of 1949.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Thomas’ Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m. located at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 3000 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19149 where visitation will take place from 9:15-10:15 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Thomas’ memory may be made to Northeast Catholic Alumni Association or Holy Innocents School
