George E. Birkhead, Jr. of Quakertown formerly of Churchville passed away on Monday March 16, 2020 at the New Seasons at New Britan after a brief illness at the age of 87.
Devoted father of Jeanette Clemenson (Joe), Susie Birkhead (Harold), Beverly Clemenson (Jim), Cindy Gordon (Bob), Ginny Murphy (the late Bob) and George Birkhead III. Also survived by Jessie Birkhead. Loving Pop Pop to 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Harold Birkhead (the late Pat), Joan Ross, Eugene Birkhead (Frankie), Myrtle Dinda (Charlie) and the late Virginia Roy (Ron), and the late Leonard Birkhead. Also survived by his nieces and nephews.
George was a self employed contractor who could fix absolutely anything. He built birdhouses, he fixed, restored and sold Mustangs and VW cars, but his greatest love may have been animals. He had chickens, 2 bulls and of course horses. He showed horses at the Devon Horse Show and raced them at Liberty Bell Racetrack. And yes, George built his own buggy for harness racing. When he wasn't using his hands, George was using his feet as an accomplished jitterbug dancer. And when he found the time to relax, George enjoyed antiquing.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service Saturday March 21, 2020 11:45 AM at Resurrections Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road Bensalem PA 19020.
