Amy L. Buckenmayer

Amy L. Buckenmayer

Amy Buckenmayer, cherished daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at the age of 49, after a courageous eight-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends in her final moments.

Born in Denville, New Jersey, Amy grew up in Cedar Knolls, where she cultivated her love for life and learning. She spent her later years enjoying the tranquility of Long Beach Island and the Cape May peninsula, always near the ocean she adored, with her faithful companion, Ronan, by her side.

Amy's educational journey took her to Michigan State University and the University of Minnesota, where she initially pursued a career in sports journalism. Her heart, however, led her to marketing within the internet services sector before finding her true calling in working for cancer patients and survivors through the marketing of specialty clothing. Her work in this field was not only professional but deeply personal, providing her with profound insights into her own battle with cancer.

A woman of many talents, Amy was an accomplished photographer, capturing the beauty of the world around her. She was a singer and a lover of the theater arts. She embraced Eastern philosophies, finding solace and wisdom in her study of Hinduism and Buddhism, which influenced her life profoundly. Her sorority sisters from Michigan State were the core of her loving circle of friends, a testament to the life-long sisterhood she so cherished.

Amy leaves behind her mom Dixie, her dad and stepmom Bob and Maggie, and her brothers, Matthew, Kurt, and Christopher, who will forever remember her vibrant spirit and indomitable will to live with intention.

A celebration of Amy's life will be held on the New Jersey Shore in the spring. For those wishing to receive updates on the event, please send your request to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Amy's resilience, loving nature and creative light will live forever with all of us who hold her in our hearts. She will be dearly missed.
