Louis Nemerofsky

Louis Nemerofsky of Rhawnhurst passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at the age of 94.

Lou was born on January 10, 1926 in Philadelphia to Abe and Rose (nee Schmidt) Nemerofsky. Lou was a proud graduate of West Philadelphia High School. After graduation, in March of 1944, he joined the Army Air Corps where he served as a gunner. He was part of the 211th Army Air Forces Base Unit serving in the North Appennines, Po Valley, Rhineland and Central European campaigns. During his service, he earned several decorations and citations, including an air medal with two bronze stars. On July 10, 1953, he married Mary Lou (nee Carver) Nemerofsky. They raised two sons, Marty and John. He loved being a father and enjoyed coaching his sons’ sports teams and later in life enjoyed watching his grandchildren play various sports.

Anne Beebie

Anne Beebie, of Somerton, in Philadelphia PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved daughter of the late Earl N. Beebie and Grace T. Beebie (née O’Driscoll). She is survived by her loving brothers Michael (Mary), Patrick, Gregory (Donna) and Andrew (Meg).

Nothing was more important to Anne than family. She loved her precious nieces and nephews; Christopher, Kate, Dan, Jacky, Karlee, Kevin, Connor & Shannon, and great nieces and nephews; Myla, Leah, Emma, Jose, Xavier, Aurora, Charley & Logan.

She grew up in a very close family and her multitude of cousins were more like brothers and sisters. She also had many dear friends that touched her life.

Joan D. Wilson

Joan D. Wilson (née Gehan) of Mayfair passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the age of 86.

She is the beloved wife of 54 years to the late James W. Wilson Sr. Devoted mother of Joan, Brian (Arlene), Margaret Garcia (Miguel) and her late children; James Jr., Barbara, John and Gerard Wilson. Loving and cherished grandmother of Judy Gallagher (Daniel), Adam, Brian Jr. and Arlene Jr. Wilson, Michelle and Erica Garcia, Christopher Wilson, Carrie Neese and her late grandchildren; Joan Jr., James 3rd, Carl and Richard Wilson.

Joan was born in Kensington. She and her husband, Jim, later moved their family to the Mayfair section of the city where they were loyal members of St. Matthew Parish for over 35 years.

Bailee M. Benz-Mentzel

Bailee M. Benz-Mentzel, passed away suddenly on  Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the age of 2 months. 

Bailee is the beloved daughter of Jennifer N. Benz and John F. Mentzel III. Loving granddaughter of Deborah Knowlton (the late Joseph C. Benz) and Marlene J. Kehler and John F. Mentzel, Jr.; great granddaughter of Brenda Gallion. Dear sister of Jayden Benz. Cherished niece of James Knowlton, Joseph Benz, Brenda Mentzel, Bryan Kehler, and Howard Kehler.  Although Bailee's life was short, she filled everyone's life with happiness. She will always be our "Little Angel".

Margaret E. Melcher

Margaret E. Melcher (nee Carroll) passed away suddenly on Friday, September 25, 2020 at the age of 68.

Marg was born in Philadelphia to the late Edward and Margaret (nee Gibbons) Carroll. She attended St.Matthew School, St. Hubert High School for Girls and St. Mary Nursing School. She spent her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse helping and caring for others.

She is the beloved wife of the late Tilo Melcher, stepmother to Eric and Gina, grandmother to Tyler, Emily and Hannah. Devoted sister to Richard, Edward, John, Christopher, Elizabeth Fudali, Nancy Padilla and the late Mary Ann Mills. Sister-in-law to Linda, Frank, Joe and Ken. Loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Her two cats Tobby and Tuffy were her babies.

Anne E. Litchko

Anne (Annie) E. Litchko (Wiedemer), of Philadelphia, passed away April 27, 2020 at the age of 80 due to complications of Covid 19 with her family by her side.

Devoted mother of Ann-Margaret (Bob) and John (Trish). Adored grandmother to Laura, Bobby, and Alyssa.

Anne was born in Philadelphia on September 8, 1939 to Joseph Wiedemer and Barbara Bonfig. Her mother passed away when she was 5 years old. Since she was the youngest child, Barbara asked her sister, Anna, to take care of Anne. She wanted her to have a mother figure. She was raised by her aunt, Anna Bonfig, whom she called “mom” and uncle, Bill Bonfig.

Anne attended elementary school at St. Bartholomew and graduated from St. Hubert’s in 1957. She started working for Bell Telephone Company her senior year of high school following in the steps of her Aunt Anna (mom).

Gladys Mary Cifelli

Gladys Mary Cifelli (nee Lovesey), passed away at age 97 on April 22 , 2020 at Elkins Crest Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Wolverton, England, she was the oldest of 8 children of the late Joseph and Dora Lovesey. She was a member of the British Women's Land Army during WW11. She met Domenic Cifelli, who was stationed nearby and they were married in her hometown. She joined him in South Philadelphia when the war ended and they later moved to Holmesburg. She became a U.S. citizen August 13, 1958. She was a long time employee at Stone Container Corporation.
